Senior Quantity Surveyor – Tier 1 Main Contractor

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step with one of the UK’s leading Tier 1 contractors?

We are seeking a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a high-performing team delivering major construction projects across a diverse portfolio including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and mixed-use developments.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will provide strategic commercial leadership, manage risk, maximise value, and ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of major construction projects.
• Prepare, review and negotiate subcontract packages and procurement strategies.
• Manage project budgets, forecasts, valuations and cost reporting.
• Assess and manage variations, change control and contractual claims.
• Prepare and agree interim applications and final accounts.
• Provide commercial advice to project teams and senior stakeholders.
• Monitor project performance, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Mentor and support junior surveyors within the commercial team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

About You

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Proven experience working for a main contractor on large-scale construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Excellent commercial awareness and contractual understanding.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively within project teams.
• Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
• Membership of RICS (or working towards) is desirable.
