Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support a range of local primary schools across Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced education professionals looking to make a meaningful impact on pupils' learning and development.

About the Role

As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Working closely with class teachers and SENCOs, you will provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, while also confidently leading whole-class learning when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Lead small-group interventions across core curriculum subjects
  • Provide tailored support for pupils with additional needs, including SEN
  • Assist with lesson planning, assessment, and pupil progress tracking
  • Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support pupil achievement
Requirements
  • A recognised HLTA Level 4 qualification
  • Previous experience working within a primary school setting
  • Confidence in leading whole-class learning and managing classroom behaviour
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, positive attitude and genuine passion for education
  • Commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of all pupils
